Well, Wuss zine as an idea has been sitting in my head for a while now, and I’ve not had the chance or the drive to really get things started, or the courage to tell people about it and actually get them to write stuff for me. But recently I told a friend about my ideas fort this zine, and they encouraged me, and told me to get on with it, in addition to promising to write something for me for it. I understand that relationships are a pretty sensitive topic to write on, but equally I’m a believer in catharsis, mutual support, and education by learning about others experiences. Most of all, what I would like to do with this zine, is produce something that allows people to see a little of what others have experienced in relationships. I think that something like that can be supportive when people are having a hard time understanding what those around them are thinking, what they’re feeling, and how to react to them.
Aside from anything, other peoples relationships can be fascinating, particularly when viewed from the inside.
Obviously privacy is key here too- no one can be named with their real name, nothing recounted should be obvious enough to reveal details about a person that they have not consented to, or would recognise if they read about themselves. Equally for writers own privacy, avoid revealing too many personal details about yourself- this is the internet, people can find you with all sorts of tiny details, and I’d be putting bits of the zine online too.
In terms of content that I’m after, that’s a little more vague. I want to hear about relationships. Personal relationships of any kind. Or why you choose not to maintain them. Or why you can’t live without them. Or why your cat is better than people. This can be in pretty much any form that can be emailed and reproduced in print. So, art work, poetry, writing (of any kind). That kind of thing.
So, please. Write stuff for me. It’ll be awesome.
To submit or ask questions, either message me here, or email email@example.com. There’s no obligation to reveal your name or anythign else about yourself unless you want to.
